They may not all have grocery stores, gas stations, or even post offices…but nearly every small town in Washington has a museum. People care about their history, and they want others to care about it, too. The small bands of dedicated volunteers who run these museums have the desire and ability to collect and preserve local history, and they want to share their stories with the world in educational and entertaining ways. But they often lack the funding, knowledge and support to accomplish that goal. So history remains hidden.
At Washington Our Home, it’s not our job to compete with these passionate organizations. Our job is to help them do their job, better.

This speaker was AWESOME! He got a lot of compliments from guests following the History Pub. And we’ve been contacted by guests, since the event, asking where they can see him next. Everyone loved him!

Grant Writing
Nothing is more frustrating than having a passion for your museum, historical society or nonprofit organization, but lacking the funding to improve it. Work with Washington Our Home to get the resources you need by identifying as many grant opportunities as possible that could be drawn upon to fund your activities. As with all grants, funding will be dependent on specific projected outcomes, such as an increase in out-of-area tourism, a higher regional profile, or production of a physical project or program like an oral history series. Let us help you get the funding you deserve to tell your story better, and to a bigger audience!
Thank you for your masterful work on the grant. The quick turnaround was key, and it made it possible for us to apply. In addition to your superb writing skills, I appreciated your ideas and hope to follow up on more!
Local History Curriculum
Washington Our Home will dive deep into your history and heritage to extract the key elements that need to be passed on to the next generation. We’ll work together to create educational content that engages children of all learning levels and inspire in them a love of history! Whether it’s building a traveling trunk to bring to local schools or developing lesson plans that follow the College, Career, Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards, together we’ll challenge your local students in essential reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills…all while teaching them about the history in their own backyard.
