Here comes the rain again…

I don’t even know how the rest of that Annie Lennox song goes. Something about diving into an ocean I think.

But the rain has returned to the Pacific Northwest! I’ve only got a few quick minutes to post before work, but I wanted to say how much I enjoy the rain. It’s one of the great parts about living in this part of the country. North Dakota gets the snow, Illinois the wind, Arizona the sun, and Washington the rain.

If you were watching the Olympics yesterday, it was quite a different sight to see all those skiers in nearly whiteout conditions! Too bad the snow didn’t come two weeks ago. After the last six days of beautiful sunshine, it’s nice to see the rain again.

Don’t get me wrong. I love the sun, but I love the sun in June. I love the snow in December, I love the winds in October and I love the rain in March. Enjoy it while it lasts…it’s part of the reason we love to live here!

About Washington Our Home

My name is Erich Ebel and I love this state. I’ve lived on the green side as well as the brown side. I’ve navigated the rivers and climbed the mountains. I’ve fished its lakes, hiked its trails, marveled at its geology, and studied its fascinating, storied history. I’ve spent the past ten years discovering and sharing stories about Washington’s history, heritage, and culture. My blog, videos, and podcasts hold a treasure trove of interesting facts, unknown facets, and fascinating tales that help to educate the general public about the privileges of being in Washington. I’m the current chair of the City of Lacey Historical Commission, and previously served as Marketing and Communications Director for the Washington State Historical Society and Museum. I’ve been a board member for the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation, and the History Insider for Scenic Washington magazine.

  1. When you were a kid living in the western Washington community of Bothell, you played little leage baseball every spring. We had a rule back then about calling games due to rain… you didn’t call a game unless you lost a kid in a puddle!
